VPOD: Vintage 1950s Malcolm Starr Dress

Today is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year and the first official day of winter.

And a quick glance at a national weather map confirms that today many Americans will be bundling up in scarves and gloves, shoveling snow, or battling icy roads on the way to the office. If you have to deal with this winter misery, one way to keep a smile on your face is to remember that Spring is only a few short months away.

Yes, when you wool sweater is itching, when your feet are freezing in wet boots, when you remove your hat and have static hair that makes you look like you just pulled your finger out of an electrical outlet, that’s the perfect time to remember all the lovely little dresses that you’ll be pulling out of your closet in what will seem like a blink of the eye.

Dresses like today’s VPOD.

This late 1950s dress by Malcolm Starr evokes images of Capri, Palm Beach and other fun-in-the-sun locations with its ocean blues and greens. Plus it’s just waiting to convert sunshine into sparkles with its beaded cummerbund waist.
