VPOD: It’s a Wrap

I recently completed Diane von Furstenberg’s autobiography Diane: A Signature Life. While her life is part fairy-tale (she married a German prince), it also had it’s share of tragedy (a business reversal and cancer diagnosis). But her name will always be most closely associated with one thing: the wrap dress.

First introduced in 1973, her now-famous wrap dress became a cultural icon and phenomenon–a symbol of women’s sexual freedom. For five years, sales soared until, as Diane says, “it found its way into almost every closet in America.” Then the inevitable crash came and the era of the wrap ended.

Today’s VPOD is a version of her famous 100% silk dress re-issued in the late 1990s as part of Diane’s “comeback.” And it’s abstact print? Look closely and you’ll discover it’s her famous signature.

It’s a must-have find for any vintage fashionista!

Available at The Urban Collection.
