VPOD: Vintage 1960s London Fog Raincoat

vintage 1960s london fog raincoat

I’m visiting family in Pennsylvania this week and since the weather report is for rain, rain and more rain, I’m wishing I had packed myself a stylish little raincoat like today’s VPOD by London Fog.

When Saks Fifth Avenue introduced London Fog’s new line of men’s raincoats in an ad in the New York Times back in 1954, the coats were described like this:

“The perfect answer to everything a man can ask for in a raincoat. Remarkably lightweight and wrinkle-free … it actually resists creasing even after packing.”

Those initial 100 coats, priced at twice what normal raincoats cost, sold out immediately. And after watching women buy these men’s coats for themselves, John Wanamaker’s department store approached London Fog to make a raincoat designed specifically for women.

The rest, as they say, is history. And vintage London Fog raincoats are still excellent wicked weather choices for modern ladies.

Today’s VPOD dates from the 1960s and features mod styling with tortoiseshell buttons.

It’s a fine rainy day find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Violetville Vintage.

VPOD: Vintage Day Dress

vintage blue day dress

According to a study reported by The Telegraph, the average woman spends a year of her life deciding what to wear. That breaks down to 16 minutes on weekday mornings, 20 minutes on weekend nights,  52 minutes when packing for vacations and 36 minutes about six times a year for parties and/or black tie events.

That’s a whole lot of time spent standing and staring at your closet!

And if you believe there are more important things to do, then you’d be well advised to fill your closet with classic no brainer finds like today’s VPOD.

This navy dress will work for a whole host of occasions and it’s easy on the wallet.

That makes it an ultra-simple choice for a vintage fashionista.

Available at The Vintage Valley.

VPOD: Vintage 1960s Enamel Bracelet

Vintage 1960s Enamel Bracelet

If white is for christenings and weddings, and black is for funerals, then color is for just about everything in between!

And if you’re going to wear Color with a capital “C” then why not make it the boldest, most saturated, deepest, craziest hues you can find.

Take today’s VPOD, for instance.

Sure this vintage 1960s enamel trapezoid bracelet would look dandy in primary red or a gorgeous green, but its electric blue and yellow just elevates it to new style heights.

It’s an eye-catching find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Atelier Mayer.
