VPOD: Vintage 1960s Pink Floral Applique Cocktail Dress

vintage 1960s pink cocktail dress

vintage 1960s cocktail dress cu

We most commonly use the expression “in the pink” to denote good health, probably from the glowing pink cheeks of healthy babies or perhaps even the flushed cheeks of athletes. But in the earliest uses of this phrase back in the 16th century, it’s clear that “in the pink” can be used to refer to any perfect condition or pinnacle of excellence.

So you would literally be “in the pink” in more ways than one in today’s VPOD. This 1960s cocktail dress is in perfect deadstock condition with original tags still attached. A wide satin waist is cinched with a bow and floral appliques in a lovely shade of pink adorn every other inch.

It’s a mint vintage find for a vintage fashionista!

VPOD: 1960s Vintage: Lady in Lace

Isaac Mizrahi once described Norman Norell’s designs to Vogue magazine as “simply the most glamorous clothes said in the fewest words.”

One glance at today’s VPOD and you know exactly why he was raving. This 1960s dress by Norman Norell features gorgeous lace over pink dupioni silk with a smashing pink sash. It’s breathtakingly feminine and oh-so-pretty.

With lace as a huge fall trend–and most of it in black, midnight blue, plum and other fall shades–this is a refreshing change of pace that is still perfect for any occasion with crystal chandeliers, silver ice buckets and delicate champagne flutes.

It’s a very glamorous find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Olive’s Very Vintage.
