There is something so chic and elegant about feathers in fashion and they are definitely having their moment. But one has to wonder why they are not considered animal cruelty the way fur is.
While most feathers used in fashion do come from animals that are by-products of the meat industry, the animal rights group, PETA, reports that there’s no kind way to obtain these feathers and most birds have them painfully removed while still alive.
So, if you insist in indulging your fashion whim and choose to wear feathers, please choose vintage. Today’s VPOD, for instance, is a beautiful 1960s cocktail dress by Sarmi with an abundance of black-and-white feathers.
