VPOD: Vintage Mary Quant Knit Dress

vintage Mary Quant knit dress

Mary Quant may be known for her innovative styles that helped define fashion in the 1960s. But this designer of plastic raincoats, psychedelic tights, mini-skirts, micro-minis, go-go boots, mad house pajamas and knickerbockers had a few more conservative designs up her sleeve as well.

Today’s VPOD is a fine example. Designed as part of Mary Quant’s Ginger Group, her mass-market line, this gold knit dress is more than meets the eye with a lovely knitted collar and three rows of gold glass stones at the hem. And, really, with swimsuit season still months away, is there a better way to show off the results from your last six weeks of gym workouts? A  figure-hugging sweater dress like this is winter’s equivalent of a string bikini.

And this one’s a fine choice for a vintage fashionista!
