VPOD: 1970s Vintage Vivid Vollbracht

Michael Vollbracht may not be a household designer name but it is certainly one worth knowing. After all, he has designs displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian Institute, he has worked for the likes of Geoffrey Beene and Donald Brooks, and in 1980 he received the prestigious Coty American Fashion Critics Award: Designer of the Year.

Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus all carried his bold shapes and graphic prints. And today’s VPOD features a magnificent example.

This 1970s kimono-style tunic has a beaded neckline and eye-catching colors and comes with matching black pants.

It’s Drama with a capital “D” for a vintage fashionista!

Available from Leslie Hindeman Auctioneers.

P.S. Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! The VPOD will return Monday, December 1st.
