VPOD: A Chic Cassini

Oleg Cassini was born a count and raised in Florence where he learned to sew at his mother’s dress shop. Years later he would become a Hollywood costume designer and then achieve fame as the official designer for First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.

Oleg Cassini popularized feminine styles including glamorous sheath dresses, white-collar dresses, knitted suits and cocktail dresses. And he also created military-inspired designs like today’s VPOD. This late 1950s wool dress is tres chic with its outstanding tailoring, zippered sleeves, brown satin chest and rows of shiny brass buttons.

It’s a salute-worthy find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Hemlock Vintage.
