Kerry Taylor Auctions, in conjunction with Sotheby’s, is hosting a mega-auction entitled “Passion for Fashion and Fine Textiles” on June 10 in London. Three hundred and forty high quality lots will be offered including outstanding pieces by Hermes, Dior, Balenciaga, Madame Gres, Charles James and Ossie Clark. You can even bid on the wedding dress Jerry Hall wore to her wedding to Mick Jagger in 1990!
Of course, due to the weakness of the US dollar, our friends across the pond have the financial advantage. Opening bids on eBay lots range from as low as 30 GBP (about $59 US dollars) for a pair of Courreges ski goggles to 3000 GBP (about $5895) for today’s VPOD, the iconic Paco Rabanne chain-link armour-plate mini dress from 1967 that is estimated to sell for 6000-8000 GBP.
Vintage enthusiasts from around the world can participate by bidding on over 200 lots that are listed on eBay, but if you choose to bid, remember that there will be a 22.5% buyer’s premium added to your winning bid and certain lots may require that you pay additional taxes as well.
So perhaps you’d prefer to just order the lavishly photographed auction catalog or spend your coffee break enjoying a virtual fashion show by paging through the online auction catalog at Kerry Taylor Auctions or on eBay.
