Thank heaven for DVRs! While I won’t be able to watch today’s Inauguration live, I will be able to enjoy every single historic moment later this evening. What an exciting time for our country! It’s a moment when wearing red, white and blue isn’t just acceptable, it’s practically required.
So today’s VPOD features a vintage 1960s Sarmi cocktail dress that would be a fine fashion choice regardless of whether you lean left or right politically. The red and blue chiffon unite with white satin and proclaim “I’m proud to be an American” loud and clear.

Extravagant fabrics and opulent evening wear were the hallmarks of Ferdinando Sarmi. Awarded the prestigious Coty Award for fashion design in 1960, his haute couture and ready-to-wear designs were seen all over New York for the next decade.
Today’s VPOD features his beautiful strapless silk chiffon gown with red, ivory and navy blue panels. It’s so appropriate for all the fundraisers and political galas happening during this election year. And it’s just one of many unworn Sarmi gowns acquired by today’s featured site from the estate of Leonard Gold, former CFO of Sarmi.
