VPOD: Bracelet Yourself

During the 1930s and 1940s, jewelry designers glorified the machine with elements that resembled pipes, plumbing, brickwork, zippers, and more. Today’s VPOD is a stunning example of this “Machine Age Design.”

This 1930s bracelet features the distinctive work of Jakob Bengel, a German designer perhaps best-known for his work with galalith, sometimes referred to as milk stone. He often combined galalith with chrome, although here we see that his work with chrome can stand alone. In this piece, he used orange and black enamel to set off an interesting mesh step ladder design.

It’s an eye-catching find for a vintage fashionista!
