Etsy Boutique of the Week: Red Pine Jewelry Design

Recycled Vintage Jewelry from Red Pine Jewelry Design

Red Pine Jewelry Design recycles chipped, cracked and unused family heirlooms into unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry with personal meaning to you.  Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, pins or even keychains and wine bottle stoppers can be crafted from old pieces of china that are hidden away and never used.

It’s as simple as 1-2-3.

1. Email Red Pine Jewelry Design a description of your project.

2. Send in your plate or other glass items to be recycled.

3. Wait patiently for 2-3 weeks while your items are crafted.

Recycled Jewelry from Red Pine Jewelry Design

What a fabulous gift idea for Mother’s Day or a daughter’s birthday or bridesmaids or…well, I’m sure you can think of your own special someone who would appreciate such a thoughtful gift.

And don’t despair if you’re not a patient gal, don’t want to break up Granny’s complete china set or don’t have any family heirlooms to wreck. You can always select one of the beautiful pre-made items in the boutique.

I’m just lovin’ these creative one-of-a-kind collages by Denise Fiedler, handcrafted from vintage papers with tremendous attention to detail.

The hardest part will be deciding where to hang ’em! They’d look fab in a fashionista’s office or dressing area and they made fantastic gifts for fashionistas as well.

And while my favorites are, of course, the fashion images, Denise also creates images of animals, chairs, and architecture and will even design a custom portrait of you or your dog!

They’re fun finds for vintage fashionistas!

VPOD: Fashionista Gift Idea – Handbag Calendar

It’s holiday gift time and a fine inexpensive little treat for the fashionista on your list is Workman Publishing’s Page-a-Day Gallery Calendar of Handbags 2011.

Adapted from the bestselling book, Handbags: The Power of the Purse, by Anna Johnson, the full-color calendar features designs from a roster of outstanding designers including Chanel, Dior, Hermes, Judith Leiber, Lulu Guinness and Moschino. You’ll find purses, totes, clutches and pochettes galore.

But this can also be the gift that keeps on giving (and why you might want to grab one — or ever two! — for yourself). Just check out the current prices for prior year’s calendars at Abebooks:

VPOD: Vintage Change Purses Aren’t Just For Change

vintage change purses

With more and more people checking out their purchases using debit or credit cards, it appears as if the day of the change purse might be coming to an end. But these little darlings can hold a whole lot more than extra pennies, dimes, nickles, and quarters.

And while I’ve seen many a gal pull out a clear plastic baggie from her handbag filled with a myriad of little doodads, a trio of beautiful change purses like today’s VPOD would be so much more chic.

So think outside the box a bit. After all, you don’t have to use these lovelies for change. I’ve used similar vintage change purses with their kiss-lock closures to hold lots of different items:

bobby pins and barettes
throat lozenges
paper clips and binder clips
lip balms
feminine necessities
mini nail kit
mini sewing kit
rings and earrings

The good news is that while Coinstar reports the average American household has about $90 in loose change hanging around, you only need to scrounge up $10 of it to snag today’s VPOD.

What a great gift for any vintage fashionista!
