VPOD: Vintage 1970s Gucci Suede Booties Shoes

vintage 1970s suede booties shoes

Coco Chanel said that “Fashion fades, but style remains the same.” And if you want a wardrobe that works for the long haul, it’s important to keep this in mind. What it means is that regardless of what’s trendy or what the latest celebrity is wearing, certain pieces and looks are timeless and can be in even when they’re out. Get it?

Like today’s VPOD. Sure, booties were a hot shoe choice this past season, but even when booties are shunned by the fashion press in the near future, these vintage 1970s suede beauties by Gucci will remain classic and stylish.

So they’re a sensible choice for a vintage fashionista!

VPOD: Vintage 1980s Beverly Feldman Metallic Boot

Vintage 1980s Beverly Feldman Metallic Leather Cut-out Boot

The well-known song “These Boots Are Made for Walking” was written by Lee Hazlewood and first recorded by Nancy Sinatra. It hit #1 in the US and UK in 1966 and cover versions of the song exist in every music style imaginable. Decades later, the song is still popular as it seems that men continue to keep “messin’ where you shouldn’t have been messin’.” And with that in mind, it’s probably a good idea for every fashionista to keep one pair of boots in her arsenal that are made for walking.

Today’s VPOD fits the bill perfectly. This rockin’ pair of flat boots were made by Beverly Feldman in the 1980s and feature metallic embossed leather with floral patchwork cutouts.

They’re a unique and empowering find for a vintage fashionista!

Available on Etsy from Verseau Vintage.

VPOD: Vintage 1970s Nina Urban Cowgirl Suede Boots

John Travolta introduced us to the idea of an Urban Cowboy, and now there are lots of Urban Cowgirls roaming today’s big cities. Sure, they’re dodging far more taxis than buffalo, but that’s easy when they’re wearing their country hearts on their feet.

And doesn’t every fashionista in any zip code need a rockin’ pair of urban cowgirl boots in her closet? They make perfect weekend wear when strolling the flea market and are essential for a night of line dancing. So check out today’s VPOD.

These vintage 1970s cowboy boots by Nina are perfect for a country lovin’ fashionista with their yummy caramel suede, red and white stitching and towering heel.

VPOD: Vintage 1980s Rock Star Boots

Whether you love them or hate them, there is no doubt that thigh-high boots will be walking down streets near you this fall. They’re definitely not a look for the faint of heart, though, as it’s almost impossible not to draw attention while wearing them. The trick for the daring fashionista is to embrace them in a way that says classy, not trashy.

Try teaming them with skinny-legged jeans or pairing them with wool shorts a la Prada. Or pair them with an understated neutral mini dress and leggings.

Today’s VPOD would be a fine choice. This fierce pair of thigh-high boots from the 1980s feature studs and lace-up the back.

They’re a fine way to channel your inner rock star for a vintage fashionista!

Available at The Urban Collection.

VPOD: Vintage 1960s Twinkle Toes Boots

I get a kick out of the “Who Wore It Better” and “Fashion Face-Off” features that you see in magazines and on the web. You know, those side-by-side pictures of celebrities wearing the same outfits? Well, I’ve noticed that you seldom see–heck, make that rarely see–a vintage version of these features. Makes you wonder why more celebrities aren’t wearing vintage out on the town, doesn’t it?

Of course you don’t need your own personal press corps to appreciate how special wearing vintage items can make you feel. Let the celebrities fight over the latest and greatest “it” item from the hottest designer of the moment because you can elicit your own ooh’s and ahh’s by strutting your stuff in a fantabulous vintage something-something.

Something like today’s VPOD perhaps. These 1960s vintage boots from Spain are black suede with a silver metallic heel and toe. And yes, those are strips of sparkling rhinestones. Fantabulous, right?

And a one-of-a-kind find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Posh Girl Vintage.
