As of last Wednesday, West Hollywood has banned single use plastic bags at checkouts of large grocers and retailers. If you head into Target or CVS or Whole Foods and forget your own reusable shopping bag, you’ll be charged 10 cents for one of the store’s recycled paper bags.

And while those lightweight plastic bags you use to bag your produce and bulk grocery items are currently exempt from the ban, I suspect they’ll be outlawed soon as well.

Which is why I am so pleased to share the handmade wares from The High Fiber.

That’s right. While health gurus may be touting the benefits of fiber in your diet, I’m gonna recommend a little High Fiber for your home.

Their reusable sandwich or snack bags are made from high quality cotton and decorated with adorable appliques. Each is lined with water resistant and food safe nylon so you can just use, wash in the sink or washing machine, and then re-use again and again.

And the reusable bulk grocery or produce bags come in sets of six so you can load up on tons of fresh fruits and veggies as well as bulk rice, beans and oats. Plus I love the gentle reminder “Real Food Grows” which is block printed by hand with non-toxic water-based ink.

And why not add some hand appliqued linen tea towels or handprinted linen napkins to your order as well?

Whether you’re treating yourself, putting together a housewarming bundle for the new neighbor or gifting a collection to a bride-to-be, remember these eco-friendly choices also make Mother Nature smile.

Featured items priced from $17 to $34.

Available at The High Fiber.
