VPOD: Vintage 1968 Harry Gordon Eye Dress

Vintage 1968 Harry Gordon Eye Paper Dress

America’s obsession with reality shows and behind-the-scenes glimpses into celebrity and not-so-celebrity lifestyles continues to grow. And while I admit to fast-forwarding through the occasional episode myself, I don’t consider it a character flaw that I can’t name all the Kardashian sisters or any of the Real Housewives.

Don’t you think that if we all spent less time watching other people’s lives we’d probably do a much better job of living, being present and enjoying our own?

I can’t imagine giving permission for cameras to follow my every move and to expose the most personal details of my world with a television audience. If I’m going to have eyes on me, I’d much prefer they take the form of today’s VPOD.

This iconic “Eye” dress was one of five styles designed by Harry Gordon and produced in 1968 by Poster Dresses, Ltd., London.

Do you recognize the famous eye? It supposedly belongs to Audrey Hepburn.

And while you could have picked this little gal up for a mere $2.98 back in the day, today these collectible dresses have fetched over $3000 at auction.

This particular example has a wee bit of staining which will certainly affect the final value, but it will still be an interesting auction to watch if you’re a vintage fashionista!

Available at eBay. | Auction ends February 24th.
