VPOD: Vintage 1980s Louis Feraud Secretary Dress

vintage 1980s louis feraud secretary dress

During the 1955 Cannes film festival, a little ol’ actress named Brigitte Bardot walked into Louis Feraud’s small boutique and bought a white dress. Thanks to the paparazzi trailing behind her, in just a few days, more than 500 women had purchased that identical dress and French fashion designer Louis Feraud achieved instant fame.

But his talents weren’t just relegated to fashion. During his lifetime he also authored a book (L’Ete du Pingouin, The Penguin’s Summer) and a memoir (L’Hiver des Fous, Winter of Fools). He was also passionate about painting and had some of his works displayed at the Grand Palais in Paris in 1988. And I’m pretty sure this fascination with painting was a key to the wonderful use of color in his work.

Take a look at today’s VPOD. This sheer 1980s secretary dress pops with shades of teal, red and plum and yes, the matching tasseled leather belt in included.

It’s a mint condition find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Olive’s Very Vintage.
