Memorial Day isn’t just another day off work or an excuse to take an extra-long weekend trip. It’s a day to remember and commemorate the many men and women who have given their lives in military service to protect all the freedoms we enjoy every day. And since this is both an election year and a time when the United States is engaged in battle, you may find yourself even more tempted to wear red, white and blue to show your patriotism. But I’ll caution you that this look can be a bit tricky to pull off without feeling like a walking American flag. So remember that it’s equally patriotic to wear red, white, or blue to that picnic or parade or fireworks celebration.
Or take your cues from today’s VPOD. It features a dashing little patriotic knit tank from the 1950s that has just the right amount of holiday zeal. This sleeveless number is trimmed with red and royal blue ribbon in a mod swirl pattern and the tank itself is cream–not white–which keeps it from feeling overdone. Just add jeans and flats.
It’s a perfect Memorial Day find for a vintage fashionista!
Available at Back Thennish Vintage.
P.S. The VPOD will return on Tuesday, May 27.
