VPOD: Chic Chiffon

Fashions of the 1930s were greatly influenced by the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and the ensuing Great Depression. Women sewed more, for one thing, and patched and mended. This era also saw the boyish flapper look of the 20s give way to a more feminine style.

Today’s VPOD is a perfect example.

This lovely capelet is made of bias-cut pale green silk chiffon with a bow-tie neck and a sparkling rhinestone and beaded neckline. It was probably worn over an evening gown back in the day but would look quite modern with a pencil skirt or jeans.

A very pretty look for a demure vintage fashionista!
