VPOD: Vintage 1960s Chester Weinberg Brocade Dress

I instantly became a huge fan of this label as soon as I spied this dress.

It’s by Chester Weinberg.

“Who?!” you ask.

I admit I never heard of him either. Apparently, he’s a Parsons School of Design alumni who headed his own company for a few years in the 70s. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more of his designs, that’s for sure.

This beautiful little number carries his label and hails from the 1960s.

I think it’s a lovely way to wear spring trends without WEARING spring trends, if you know what I mean. (Besides not all of us should really be doing bubble hems and leggings.)

It’s made with that always-figure-flattering A-line in a scrumptious silver and gray brocade. The floppy bow at the collar keeps it fresh (Did you see all the bows on the spring runways? ). The bold floral graphic design is right out of the 60s yet still contemporary. It’s very sophisticated without being stuffy.
