VPOD: Vintage Roberto Cavalli Zipper Dress

On the finale of The Rachel Zoe Project, Rachel Zoe had picked out two Oscar gowns for Jennifer Garner. One was black and one was nude. And Rachel was pulling for Jennifer to wear the nude choice. Why? Because she feared that all the amazing detail on the black gown would be lost on camera and appear flat and boring when viewed on the screen.

Black garments, as a general rule, are notoriously hard to photograph and it’s especially important to remember this when shopping online. Remember that what at first glance might appear to be ho-hum on your monitor could actually turn out to be a stunner when you hold the actual garment in your hands.

Of course, occasionally a black dress will catch your eye even with these challenges. Today’s VPOD is a vintage-wannabe that’s less than a decade old but loaded with grown-up style. The sexiness is brought to you by Roberto Cavalli who perfectly placed that zipper to accentuate a woman’s curves.

It’s a zipped up find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Woodland Farms Antiques.

VPOD: Denim Heaven

Denim is the shortened version of the French term serge de nims, which described a fabric that originated in Nims, France during the Middle Ages. Yep, denim has been around that long! But since denim jeans and denim jackets have become such a common and popular part of the American wardrobe, it isn’t often that denim will turn heads. Occasionally, however, you find a piece like today’s VPOD.

This vintage late 1960s jacket was designed by the talented Roberto Cavalli and features a patchwork combination of blue denim, three printed denims and two different printed leathers. The cut is amazing and the details are sublime. Check out those enameled flowers on the snap closures and the beautiful trim on the collar and cuffs.

It’s denim heaven for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Swank Vintage.
