VPOD: A Trigere to Treasure

In one interview, Pauline Trigere talked about how she could have been an architect or even a surgeon, but that she didn’t think she would have enjoyed anything but designing collection after collection. And oh her collections! She began her business in 1942 and officially retired when she was 85 with work that has been compared to that of Balenciaga and Vionnet.

Fabric was both inspiration and guide to Pauline Trigere, and she was especially known for the exquisite tailoring in her suits and coats. Today’s VPOD is a perfect example of that craftsmanship.

This 1960s ensemble features a coat in gray wool tweed with fox cuffs, a matching sleeveless sheath and a fox hat.

It’s a striking and exquisite find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Woodland Farms Antiques.

VPOD: In Black and White

When you’re petite like me (aka “vertically challenged”), you learn to walk confidently in heels at a very young age and you nurture an affinity for stripes like the ones in today’s VPOD.

This fabulous 1970s evening gown by Pauline Trigere features black-and-white stripes in an abstract design that tease the eye and create the illusion of height. (Of course, I’d still add a rockin’ pair of Manolo Blahnik’s or Christian Louboutin’s for good measure.)

What an eye-catching find for a vintage fashionista!
