VPOD: Coco Avant Chanel – The Film

The US release date for the highly anticipated French film Coco Avant Chanel has finally been set. Fashionistas, mark your calendars for September 25th because you will not want to miss this fascinating story of Coco Chanel’s rise to power in the fashion industry.

French actress, Audrey Tatou, from The Da Vinci Code, plays the legendary designer and her physical resemblance to Chanel is quite remarkable. Take a peek at the trailer. Although it’s in French with no subtitles, it’s quite compelling and beautiful.

VPOD: Valentino: The Last Emperor

The indie feature film, Valentino: The Last Emperor has been making the rounds at film festivals around the world and is finally opening in NYC tonight at the prestigious Film Forum. This fashion documentary offers a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of haute couture and showcases the amazing love story between Valentino and his companion of 50 years, Giancarlo Giacometti.

The New York Times calls it a “must-see for fashion lovers and pop culture addicts” and W Magazine says it is “touching, funny, glamorous.”

I’m counting down the days until its LA premiere on April 3 and you can watch the trailer and find out when it will be in your city at ValentinoMovie.com.

“I know what women want,” says Valentino. “They want to be beautiful.”

And that is why this man is beloved by vintage fashionistas!
