VPOD: Vintage 1970s Mules Rule Sandals

Just to set things straight, mules (those super sexy slip-on heels) aren’t named for mules the animals, mules the drug smugglers or mules, the early industrial cotton-spinning machines. Nope, the shoe’s name derives from the Latin mulleus, a type of ceremonial shoe worn by high-ranking government officials in ancient Rome. (And I don’t believe these high-ranking officials were women!)

Fortunately, women did eventually appropriate the style for themselves and today’s VPOD features a fab pair of vintage mules from the 1970s. These babies have punched suede uppers and plastic heels and are loaded with Italian style.

They’re mules that rule for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Posh Vintage.
