Buttons debuted over 3,000 years ago during the Bronze Age. But these buttons, of wood, metal and bone, never buttoned anything since the buttonhole had yet to be invented! That didn’t happen until the 1300s and then people went crazzzzzy. One report tells of King Francis I of France wearing a ceremonial outfit with 13,600 buttons and buttonholes!
Today’s VPOD doesn’t go quite that far. But this fabulous 1960s dress is simply darling with its row of ornamental buttons, interesting fabric folds and an adorable neckline bow.
It’s a fine way to get buttoned up for a vintage fashionista!
Available at Violetteville Vintage.
