When you think of Irish fashion designers, Sybil Connolly immediately comes to mind. She may have started her fashion apprenticeship in London, but her first major show was held at Dunsany Castle in her home country in 1953. She often used traditional Irish fabrics in her designs and found plenty of inspiration from the working clothes of the people of Ireland.

One of her greatest achievements was the creation of a unique linen-based fabric that was hand-pleated, uncrushable and uncreasable. You can see an example in a portrait of Jackie Kennedy that hangs in the White House or you can take a look at today’s VPOD.

This rare vintage 1960s Sybil Connolly dress is an outstanding find for a vintage collector. Oh, what exquisite details! Check out the removable collar, the inverted V-piping, the double ruffle hem–and it’s all in mint condition!

What a remarkable find for a vintage fashionista!
