VPOD: Vintage Lilli Ann In the Pink Coat

Today the phrase “in the pink” refers to good health, but the phrase originated with English fox-hunting. The scarlet jackets worn by the riders, which for some reason are called “pinks”, couldn’t be worn until a rider had demonstrated superior horsemanship. So a rider was “in the pink” when he had finally reached this highest status.

Of course, in addition to being “in the pink,” one can also be “tickled pink,” and that’s how I feel about today’s VPOD.

This vintage wool knit coat by Lilli Ann is the softest shade of pink which means it works much like an all-purpose neutral color in your wardrobe–fabulous with heather gray, charcoal, black, winter white, or navy. But the stand-out feature on this beauty is the rows of huge looped yarn at the collar and hem.

It’s a pretty in pink find for a vintage fashionista!

I would look like a pink poodle in that jacket.
