VPOD: Suited Up

Last night’s Super Bowl may have been exciting, but fashionistas are more interested in the fashion battles taking place this week. The first will be in Bryant Park as designers show their Fall 2008 collections. And the second will take place on your TV screen between Patricia Field, costume designer for Cashmere Mafia and David C. Robinson, costume designer for Lipstick Jungle.

Both of these shows are attempting to capture the old Sex and the City audience by featuring fabulous women with fabulous lives wearing fabulous clothes. And about those clothes…

If you’re a woman working in a conservative office (and many, many, many still exist) then the looks featured on these shows may not be entirely appropriate as fashion inspiration. Instead, take a look at today’s VPOD.

This buttoned-up Lilli Ann suit from the early 1950s would pass muster in the stodgiest of corporate conference rooms yet still has a feminine, ladylike appeal. Check out the slim skirt, the peplum waist, the yoke bodice, the string tie.

It’s a perfect way to get suited up for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Vintage Martini.
