VPOD: Wainwright Does It Right

Janice Wainwright may not be as well-known as Ossie Clark, but she trained under Janey Ironside at the Royal College of Art just like he did. Add today’s VPOD shows off her talent with a beautiful jacket.

Much like Ossie Clark, Janice Wainwright is associated with the use of beautiful, high-quality fabrics, many of which she sourced from other parts of Europe and the Far East. Here, though, it’s not so much the black crepe fabric, but the draping and details that catch your eye. A 1970s piece, it feels inspired by the 1940s with its back peplum and cordwork. And the batwing sleeves and front draping are fabulous and freeing.

It’s a rare find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Appleby Vintage.
