VPOD: Shirr Genius

The shirring that’s often found on today’s belly-baring, ultra-snug tops doesn’t do justice to this amazing sewing technique. But shirring, the gathering of fabric in parallel lines of stitching to create soft, feminine folds, is masterfully displayed in today’s VPOD.

This 1950s matte silk haltar blouse was made in Italy and still has its original tags. Beautiful hand-stitching helps to keep all those lovely, figure-enhancing folds in place and diagonal piped side seams create a flattering waist line.

It’s a bombshell haltar top for a vintage fashionista!

P.S. One more thing…It has a 35-inch bust and is labeled a Size 14! (Just a friendly reminder that when you buy vintage you absolutely MUST look at the measurements and not the size labels.)

Available at Past Perfect Vintage.

That’s very pretty. Wow! I want to wear it with some pearls!

Dahling – that halter is Fashion In The True Sense! None of that polyester nubbly hoo-ha the younger set insist on wearing. If only the bust were considerably larger, that beautiful garment would be MINE. Alas, my decolletage would not allow it.
