Roy Halston Frowick was born in Des Moines, Iowa and raised in Evanston, Indiana–not the hubs of the fashion world by any means–yet somehow he went on to build a fashion empire. And though it might have spiraled a bit out of control in the later years, when his name was licensed and found on just about everything it seemed, he remains on the list of masterful American fashion designers.

Today’s VPOD expresses Halston’s beautiful draping ability and his sense of minimalism that inspires the wearer to add her own personal style to the outfit. Tie on a fox scarf, drape that dangling pendant neklace, layer a silk turtleneck underneath–just not all at the same time please!
