VPOD: Vintage 1960s Beene Beauty Cocktail Dress

I’m reading Inside Steve’s Brain about Steve Jobs of Apple, and one of my takeaways from the book is that design is as much about what isn’t there as what is. And while Job’s describes this approach for the industrial design of products like the iPod and MacBook, his idea of leaving features and details out works pretty well for fashion too.

Take a look at today’s VPOD by Geoffrey Beene. This 1960s dress has just the right hint of tweed on the henley neckline and cuffs, a few wooden buttons and slit pockets. That’s it, that’s all, that’s that.

And it’s a whole bunch of wonderful simplicity for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Vagabond NYC.
