The first examples of musical notations were found on clay tablets in Mesopotamia around 1800 BC and music’s come quite a long way since then. I’m sure the ancients who carved those tablets could never have imagined someone like Lady Gaga playing their notes! But whether you can tell an octave from a clef doesn’t really matter because, as I was reminded by the Kiki Dee Band in 1974, “I got the music in me.”
Their hit song reminds me that if
Something gets in my way I go around it
Don’t let life get me down
Gonna take it the way that I found it
I’ve got the music in me
Kind of a nice approach to life, don’t you think? It’s a reminder that life never gives us more than we can handle and there is always someone out there dealing with an even greater problem than we’re experiencing. It helps keep it all in perspective.
But on good days, of course, it can sometimes be hard to keep your music inside since you just want to share it with the world. And that’s when you need today’s VPOD. This vintage suit by Yves Saint Laurent lets you wear your music on your sleeve. It’s a powerful music and fashion statement that’s softened just a bit by the ruffled peplum and shawl collar.
And it sure hits all the right notes for a vintage fashionista!
