Malcolm Starr produced stunning, elegant designs that were sold to well-to-do women in the upscale department stores of the 1960s and 1970s.  Today’s VPOD features just one beautiful example from this label.

And while dress and coat combos like this were popular at the time, it isn’t often that you find a set with a dress you’d want to wear all by itself. Usually the dresses were very simple A-line shifts. But not this beauty!

This set boasts a stand-alone cocktail dress with a pearled bodice and a sexy rear view—no jacket required.

Of course, the matching coat complements the dress perfectly, but it also works as a separate.  The icy blue color looks beautiful while both icicles and tinsel are hanging—and it’s much prettier than plain ol’ winter white—but this sophisticated pastel hue can take you right through Easter and even to a June wedding!

And the fact that the set’s on sale…well, that’s just icing on the cake.

What a lovely and practical find for a vintage fashionista!
