VPOD: Thinking Ahead

Okay, I know…it’s the beginning of March and most of us are dreaming about the day we can pull on something other than a heavy sweater or winter coat. Spring is in the air, right? So why feature a black wool dress?

Because those of us obsessed with fashion are already looking to Fall 2006. The astute vintage fashionista is already scouting for fabulous pieces that mimic the looks on the recent Fall runway shows. And she knows if she bids for them on eBay now she’ll avoid those nasty bidding wars that push up the prices!

Also, the nice thing about the slew of internet vintage websites is they will tend to list and carry items year-round. But that doesn’t mean you should let a great find like this one sit around and be snatched by someone else!

It’s the perfect LBD–Little Black Dress–made of wool and velvet, circa 1950s. The beaded collar adds sophistication but what makes this dress really stand out is the unique front smocking detail.

Very chic and the perfect example of why you shouldn’t be what I call “a label snob.” This little baby hasn’t a label but she’s sure label-worthy!

Available at Guys and Dolls Vintage.
