Shapiro, an Australian auction house, will be holding a vintage couture and accessories auction on Monday, July 26th at 6pm. The sale will include over 30 pieces of Chanel jewelry plus treasures collected by James Belger, who used to travel with British Vogue.

I’ve pictured some of my favorite lots including a stunning haute couture Versace evening gown, a 1990s Issey Miyake draped sleeveless coat, a Chanel necklace and a limited edition Louis Vuitton briefcase from 1985. Then, when you’re salivating for something Hermes to call your own, hustle on over to Artcurial’s live eBay auction. Known as the foremost auction house in Paris, Artcurial now has hundreds of Hermes goodies on the auction block including today’s VPOD.

This clutch may be just a distant cousin to the famous Hermes Birkin bag, but it still carries utterly fabulous genes.

Today’s VPOD features a 1960s trapeze-style accordian-pleated silk chiffon minidress in a bold graphic print that Pierre Cardin designed exclusively for the actress’s first starring film role.

Of course, due to the weakness of the US dollar, our friends across the pond have the financial advantage. Opening bids on eBay lots range from as low as 30 GBP (about $59 US dollars) for a pair of Courreges ski goggles to 3000 GBP (about $5895) for today’s VPOD, the iconic Paco Rabanne chain-link armour-plate mini dress from 1967 that is estimated to sell for 6000-8000 GBP.

Vintage enthusiasts from around the world can participate by bidding on over 200 lots that are listed on eBay, but if you choose to bid, remember that there will be a 22.5% buyer’s premium added to your winning bid and certain lots may require that you pay additional taxes as well.

What a woman and what a life! Assistant to Richard Avedon. Photo Editor at Harper’s Bazaar under Diana Vreeland. Assistant to Halston. And as if that alone wasn’t enough, she’s also known as the “godmother of Eloise,” the famed children’s book character. It seems D.D. Ryan encouraged Kay Thompson to write the story and then introduced her to the book’s illustrator, Hilary Knight.

Today’s VPOD features two of my favorite pieces from D.D.’s collection. These beaded Halston jackets are both stunning and are just a few of the gorgeous selections which include designs by Pucci, Zandra Rhodes, and Ossie Clark as well as some amazing Kenneth Jay Lane jewelry.
