Headbands are all the rage recently. And maybe you’re willing to spend over $400 on a designer version by Chanel. Or maybe you like to  get crafty and make your own like this year’s American Idol contestant Haeley Vaughn. But my contrarian fashion sense tells me that if everyone’s now sporting headbands, it might be time to start wearing…vintage combs.

If you’re lucky enough to have the long tresses needed for an up-do, try accessorizing with a beautiful celluloid comb from yesteryear. Popular among women at the turn-of-the-century, many of these combs are nearly a hundred years old. It’s an amazing feeling to hold something this beautiful with so much history in your hands and imagine the lives of the other woman who held it in their hands, too.

We’ve come a long way in that time ladies! Women can now vote, run companies and fly into space. And yet, even with all of our advancements, and yes, even with the much more risque fashions of today, these traditional accessories look as wonderful as ever.

They’re nostalgic finds for the vintage fashionista!

Available at Past Perfect Vintage.
