VPOD: Vintage 1980s Missoni Striped Leggings

I have a confession to make. I think I’m perhaps the lone fashionista in America who does not wear leggings–unless you count my skinny, tight-fitting, beaded knit trousers by Dolce & Gabanna that I suppose at a party, in dim light, after a few cocktails might be described as leggings by a tipsy fashion critic.

Now, spare me the hate mail. I have nothing against the leggings trend. In fact, I envy the women who embrace this easy-breezy look. But leggings are just a bit harder to pull off when you’ve got as many decades of dressing under your belt as I do. And well, I just never have that “I am woman hear me roar” feeling when I wear them.

But then I spied today’s VPOD. These funky vintage 1980s knit leggings by Missoni ring both my style and comfort bells. So much more fun than boring black or grey, they’ll also keep you warmer and more cozy whether you’re heading out in the snow or relaxing by a fireplace.

They’re a colorful way to get a leg up for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Vintage Couture.

I hated leggings the first time around and I’m boycotting them again this time around. They make everyone look fat and stumpy legged when worn with a long tunic. When worn with a short top it just looks like you forgot to put your pants on.
