VPOD: Pleasing Pleats

Fortuny was the King of Pleats and most costume museums have one of his pleated gowns in their collection. According to one source, his pleats were created by evaporation when wet and folded silk was laid on heated tubes. Not sure what method was used to get the amazing pleats in today’s VPOD, but Bill Blass certainly appears to be channeling the master here!

This Bliss Blass design is from 1975-1985. And I just love so many things about this dress! First, let’s talk about its yummy color combo of melon and pink. Then, it’s tea length. It keeps it understated enough to wear in the afternoon or during the cocktail hour yet it is most definitely elegant enough for evening, too. And finally, we have those amazing pleats! They do take center stage, don’t they?

It’s a breathtaking find for a vintage fashionista!

Available at Heaven of Gowns.
